Joanna Salska McNeil is a painter.  She divides her time between Berkeley and Warsaw, where she has a painting studio in the Old Town. She graduated from the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, obtaining a master's degree in fine arts. Based on the presented works, after graduating, she received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art. In 1982, she was invited to an internship at the Yaddo Foundation in Saratoga Springs, NY, USA. Then she presented her works at exhibitions in the USA, including the renowned Columbia University, New York, NY. or Event Gallery, Lachmann Gallery.  For a long time she collaborated with F.Goldstrom Fine Arts and Allrich Gallery in San Francisco, USA.  She took part in many exhibitions in the USA and Europe.  She also received awards for works exhibited, among others, at the Humboldt Cultural Center and Fiberworks Gallery in Berkeley. 

     In 2012 and 2014, she was invited to take part in the Beijing Biennial in China, and one of her paintings was selected and placed in the permanent collection at the National Museum in Beijing.

Her paintings are also included in many other collections, including the Pamela Bonino Collection, the Yaddo Foundation, the Washington Museum of Women in the Arts, and numerous private collections.

     In 2017, she started doctoral studies at her alma mater under the supervision of prof. K. Wachowiak and Tomasz Milanowski. In 2024, she obtained a doctoral degree in art in the discipline of fine arts. Due to his interdisciplinary interests (painting, sociology, social pedagogy), he also participates in conferences in the field of social sciences.  

 In his art, he focuses on psychologizing portraits and often draws creative inspiration from political and sociological issues.  Collaborating with other artists implementing multimedia projects (such as "Occupy Oakland"), he also undertakes experiments combining painting, graphics, photography, sound and the projection of moving images. For a year she has been working on a multimedia project analyzing female archetypes in European culture."
